¡@study by Security Pacific National Bank shows that the area within a 60 mile radius of Central Los Angeles, the famous '60 Mile Circle', has only 5% of the land area of California, yet contains:

  • 45% of the population
  • 46% of its personal income
  • 56% of its manufacturing employment
  • 67% of its total international trade
  • 58% of the headquarters of the 100 largest industrial companies based in California.

"The 60 Mile Circle" has the second largest concentration of population, employment, income, business, industry and finance in the United States. Exceeded only by the New York metropolis.

It is amazing! If the 60-mile radius were a nation, its gross product would rank tenth of all the countries of the world (the ranking, in order: United States, Russia, Japan, Germany, France, United Kingdom, China, Italy and Canada), and ahead of Mexico, Australia, Spain and Sweden.
